Discover the breathtaking beauty of Bornholm’s untamed nature

Visiting Bornholm in winter allows you to connect more deeply with the soul of this rugged island. Nature reveals its untamed beauty, with the wind giving your cheeks a rosy hue on walks along the endless sandy beaches and rugged coastlines.

The Bornholm cliffs are arguably at their most stunning in winter, as the light and wind accentuate the wild, untamed character of the rocks.

The beaches at Dueodde are a favourite destination for visitors and locals alike, who enjoy walks in the dunes and along the shoreline. As darkness descends, the stars light up Bornholm, unveiling what may be Denmark’s most breathtaking night sky.

At the heart of the island lies Almindingen Forest, Bornholm’s largest forest. Almindingen Forest offers some challenging mountain bike trails, while the island boasts over 230 kilometres of well-maintained cycle paths, making it perfect for all types of cycling.

Head to North Bornholm to experience the rugged landscape and deep sense of history at Hammershus, Northern Europe’s largest castle ruin, perched on a cliff top above the sea. Walk along the old rescue path from Hammershus to Vang – it’s one of the most breathtaking walks on the island.

There are many ways to experience Bornholm’s scenic landscape. Why not take a dip in one of the island’s harbour pools, or try your hand at catching a sea trout?
