Winter on Bornholm does not mean that everything is closed. Well, it's more quiet on Bornholm, but it gives you plenty of time to discover the island at your own pace.

Nature is always open - and the Bornholm nature is so unique that you should definitely experience it. We also have suggestions for indoor activities.

Fishing at Snogebæk

At Bornholm's southeast coast - for example at Snogebæk - you will find absolutely perfect fishing spots along the coast. South of the harbor there is a reef which provides particularly good conditions for anglers.

Take a walk along Bornholm's northern tip

Hammerknuden - or just Hammeren - is a very special nature area. Experience the raw rocky coast, the old granite breach and the unique view of the Baltic Sea.

Enjoy northern Europe's largest castle ruins and the view of the Baltic Sea

Hammershus is North Europe's largest medieval castle. The castle offers you a great view of the Baltic Sea and in clear weather all the way to the Swedish coast. You can also enjoy the view from the rooftop terrace of the new Hammershus visitor center.

Churches don't have to be square

On Bornholm you can visit four of the seven round churches in Denmark. Østerlars round church is the largest of them. The churches originated from the Middle Ages.

In Rønne you will find the soon-to-be 160 years old and traditional Hjorths Fabrik - Bornholms keramikmuseum, where you can still buy the factory's fine ceramics today.

Experience over 3000 years old rock carvings

Bornholm is without a doubt the place in all of Denmark, where most rock carvings have been found in such a small area. A great place to see the carvings is Madsebakke at Allinge Stadium.

Get the wind in your hair and enyoy the calming nature

If you need to relax then go for a walk along the long and fine sandy beaches. Dueodde beach is the finest of them all and here you can go in winter without meeting a single person

Bonus tip: Exercise when it's snowing

In Østerlars you will find the Bornholm ski slope that is open when it snows. Hop in the skis and try skiing at the island's only ski slope with lift and piste.
