Bornholm offers a mix of museums and activity centers as well as several opportunities to experience the wildlife.
In many of the cities of Bornholm, there are several artisans who produce beautiful handmade products – including ceramics, jewelry, and glass art.
We have selected those where the wheelchair can move freely through the studio and workshop.

If you park at the Hammerknuden parking area, a paved path along the coast leads you to Hammerodde Lighthouse. From the path you get a spectacular view of the rocky northern part of Bornholm and the Baltic Sea. When you have reached Hammerodde lighthouse, you are as close as you can get to the northernmost point on Bornholm. The path has a good surface, as it is paved, but you must be aware that the path is hilly in some places and that there is a cattle grate at the beginning of the path
Brændesgårdshaven is the amusement park of Bornholm and they offer several activities, that are fun for both children and adults. These include a zoo and a daily magic show as well as the opportunity to relax in the peaceful sections of the garden. The garden has gravel paths, which makes it possible for wheelchair users to move between the garden's many beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs.
Balka beach is one of Bornholm's most popular beaches. The beach has the finest white sand and warm shallow water. The beach is over a kilometer long, and from the parking lot on Frederiksvej, there is a good access road to the beach. From the parking lot, a wooden ramp leads you onto the beach, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the beach in a wheelchair.
A wheelchair-friendly activity that is worth a visit, is the Art Museum of Bornholm. The museum is located on the northern part of Bornholm between Tejn and Gudhjem. The museum contains, among other things, paintings with motives of Bornholm or artists from Bornholm. In addition, the museumbuilding itself is an architectural gem that contains fascinating designs on all three floors of the building. The museum has an elevator and a wheelchair lift, making all the exhibitions in the museum accessible for wheelchairs.
Located in the middle of Bornholm is Denmark's fifth largest forest, Almindingen. In Almindingen you will find Bastemosen bog where you find a birdwatching tower with access for wheelchair users. The bird tower is equipped with a long oak ramp that leads to the lower floor of the tower and offers a great view over the bog and bird life.
If you are interested in learning about the nature on Bornholm in a fun and different way, NaturBornholm may be the activity for you. NaturBornholm is an activity center located in the middle of the island, where visitors get the opportunity to experience and learn about Bornholm's natural history. Unlike any other place in Denmark, traces of the dinosaurs have been found on Bornholm. Through an interactive exhibition you can take a journey through time, all the way back to the time of the dinosaurs. The exhibition is handicap-friendly and approved by the Disabled Peoples’ Organization Denmark.
Grønbechs Gård is Bornholm's center for art and crafts, and it is located in Hasle. You can enjoy exhibitions containing the latest arts and craft designs from Bornholm, as well as from other parts of Denmark and other countries. You will find high quality arts and crafts in materials such as glass, ceramics, textiles, and wood. Grønbechs Gård has good conditions for wheelchair users and they have an elevator which makes it possible to move around on all floors including going all the way up to the "lantern" where there is a view of the city's rooftops and the Baltic Sea.
Built into the landscape near Hammershus Castle ruins, the visitor center is situated. From the center's large panoramic windows and wooden terrace, you can see Hammerhus Castle ruins from a whole new angle. In addition, the center houses an exhibition about the castle ruins, a shop and a café. A parking lot for disabled is found close to the entrance, as well as good conditions for wheelchairs in the visitor center.
Anabelle smykkedesign (jewelry) is located 10 minutes by car from Gudhjem, in the town of Østerlars and here you will find handmade, unique jewelry. The artist produces necklaces, earrings, and bracelets in several different materials. At Anabelles you can buy a beautiful unique piece of jewelry that will remind you of your holiday on Bornholm. The shop has parking spots by the entrance as well as access for wheelchairs inside the shop.
