Bornholm – closer than you think

The fact that Bornholm is an island only adds to the holiday feeling – because getting here means flying or taking a ferry. That sense of vacation begins the moment you see the Baltic Sea sparkling in the sun, feel the wind in your hair, and enjoy a moment of calm on your way to new adventures.

There are many ways to get to Bornholm – whether you prefer the fresh sea breeze on the ferry or the fast route through the clouds by plane, the journey is part of the experience.

Travel by ferry

One of the most popular routes to Bornholm is via Ystad in Sweden. This route is operated by Bornholmslinjen, offering both fast ferries and traditional ferries. The fast ferry takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, which means you can reach the island from Copenhagen in under three hours, including the drive across the Øresund Bridge to Ystad.

For those looking for a direct connection from Zealand, Bornholmslinjen also operates an overnight ferry from Køge to Rønne. The journey takes approximately 5½ hours, and you can book a cabin for a comfortable night’s sleep.

Travellers from Germany can take the ferry route between Sassnitz and Rønne. The crossing takes around 3 hours and 20 minutes and runs from April to December. For timetables and booking, visit → www.bornholmslinjen.dk

Travel by air

Flying to Bornholm is, of course, also an option. DAT flies year-round from Copenhagen to Rønne, and the flight takes about 35 minutes. In certain periods, DAT also operates flights from Billund and Aalborg – see the schedule here → www.bornholmerflyet.dk

Travel by bus or train

Kombardo Express offers direct bus routes to Bornholm, making it easy to plan a car-free trip. You can also travel by train – DSB offers tickets that include the ferry crossing.

Practical tips

Booking: We recommend booking your ferry or flight tickets well in advance, especially during high season, to secure a seat and get the best prices.

Getting around the island: Bornholm has a well-connected network of bus routes, and renting a bicycle is also a popular way to explore the island at your own pace.

Accommodation: Bornholm offers a wide range of places to stay – from hotels and guesthouses to holiday homes and campsites.
