On this bicycle route you will ride along the railway line from Rønne to Aakirkeby. On your way you will see the Nylars Round Church, which was built in the 12th century. Nylars is a corruption of St Nicolaus, to whom the church was dedicated in 1335.
Halfway on your route you will get to Aakirkeby, which was the central market town on the island and its capital until 1660. The town’s imposing Aa Church is one of the oldest on the island.
In Aakirkeby you will also meet the experience centre NaturBornholm. NaturBornholm is an interactive visitor centre that describes the geology and nature of the island.
Passing through pleasant farmland with a view to Dueodde and the Baltic Sea beyond, you arrive in Nexø, which in spite of extensive bombing in 1945 has many beautiful old houses and the island’s largest commercial fishing harbour.
