This route takes you from the deep forest into the open field landscape with a view of the Baltic Sea, and back into the peace and shade of the forest.
The route starts at Rytterknægten, which is the highest point on the island, and from there you move down the ridge towards the lower southeastern part of Almindingen. You pass the bison forest, which you can explore on foot.
The route takes a turn north, where you hit the open landscape. Here you ride on small roads and gravel roads to Østerlars, where you can find a grocery store.
After Østerlars you pass Østerlars Rundkirke, and shortly after Kobbeåen and Stavehøl waterfall, which is only a short walk from the route.
A cozy and rural climb up to Rø Plantage and its hilly terrain. On the way up there is, in clear weather, a view of the Baltic Sea.
In Rø Plantage you ride a beautiful and hilly round trip on fine gravel roads, after which you turn the bike back towards Rytterknægten, again on small roads, and then up and down the Almindingen ridge on excellent gravel roads.
At Bornholm's highest point – Rytterknægten – you will find the tower Kongemindet, which was built in 1856 in memory of Frederik VII and Countess Danner's visit a few years earlier. Read more here.
