Butterflies, sand sculptures and more
A visit to Sommerlunden offers a rich and varied experience. Wander through the dense greenery of the indoor rainforest and observe the delicate movements of tropical butterflies. Explore the wild garden, where perennials, grasses and granite boulders from the local quarry shape the landscape. Throughout the grounds, towering sand sculptures invite reflection and immersion.
Feeling creative? Step into the Morbærhuset, where imagination takes the lead through collage, colour and natural materials. Need to burn off some energy? The forest playground awaits with obstacles and open-ended play beneath the treetops. And when hunger (and thirst) strikes, our café beneath the vine canopy serves homemade lunch, hot and cold drinks, ice cream and snacks.

Dive into ‘The Mystery of the Sea’
Once again this year, the impressive sand sculptures rise in Nexø – shaped by some of the world’s most skilled sand artists using the clay-rich sand from Klemensker. This season’s theme is ‘The Mystery of the Sea’, and through the artists’ interpretations, you’re invited below the surface to explore stories of the deep blue.
This year, the sculptures are placed throughout the garden as an integrated part of the natural landscape. With this theme, we aim to create a link between the rural nature of Sommerlunden and the sea – which plays a central role in Nexø’s identity as a historic fishing town.
