Seal safari to Christiansø – a truly unique experience

It is an extraordinary experience to arrive at Christiansø before the island awakens and prior to any other tourist’s arrival.

We sail towards the sunrise for half an hour until the Fortification of Christiansø appears in the horizon. It is like travelling back in time. Everything here is protected; buildings, plants and wildlife.

While we arrive to the small dock, the locals fly the flag to the sound of the clock chime.

From here, you can stroll around the island for a few hours; go for a swim or visit one of the islands museums. For the more adventurous, we offer snorkelling with the largest (friendly) predator in Denmark: the grey seal weighing up to 300 kg. You will be guided by a professional and wear a wetsuit. There will still be time for a quick visit to the island afterwards even if you decide to snorkel.

Boating Bornholm takes you to Hammershus, Christiansø and our other favourite locations around Bornholm.

All trips depart from Sandvig harbour. Here you will be briefed about the trip and have life vests handed out. On cold days, we further provide comfortable floatation suits. Our boat is a 12-person RIB (rigid inflatable boat) which offers the safest and most stable conditions possible.

During the trip, we will share our knowledge about the local history and nature. In addition, we occasionally collect environmental samples for scientific use as a part of our trips – an activity that often requires an extra hand from anyone interested.

Although our boat is built for search and rescue operations and therefore copes well with harsh weather conditions, we only depart when the weather is comfortable.
