Experience the granite history of Bornholm, amazing nature, and breathtaking sunsets at Vang Harbour.
Vang Harbour has three basins. New wooden jetties have been built in the two southernmost basins where there is always space for visiting yachters.
A barbecuing shelter has been set up close to the harbour’s public toilets and bathing facility, all of which are at the disposal of visitors.
Bixen, a summer shop, will procure anything not already stocked on its shelves. Vang Harbour was built as a shipping port for granite, and in good weather schooners up to thirty metres long still visit.
The history of the granite industry is presented in and around the waterfront area, both the more recent history in Ringebakkerne Hills and the earlier history in the fishery shed, the stonecutting workshop (now a gallery), and next to the monuments depicting the frequently unpaid work of a stonemason. In addition to presenting information about Bornholm’s recent granite-history, Vang Pier is the site of north-west Bornholm’s new sandy beach with a 1-2-3 metre diving platform and good angling spots.
The picturesque village spread across the steep coastal slope, affords splendid dining opportunities. Vang is also the point of departure for scenic rambles around Slotslyngen, Ringebakkerne Hills with their many abandoned quarries, splendid mill ponds supplying water to Bornholm’s only overshot waterwheel mill, artist Peter Bonnén’s bridge across the ravine at the quarry south of the harbour, and Pissebækken stream with the highest waterfall in Denmark (although sometimes there is no water running due to Bornholm’s long sunny summers).
