Slaus Stene

Field stones from Uglegaard

Slaus Stene is a collection of stones located in the small forest, which you reach via the cycle path (Rønne-Aakirkeby) on the old railway line west of Nylars.

Slau’s real name was Hans Schouv Andersen, he was a farmer and lived at Uglegaard.
All the stones are fieldstones from the fields around Uglegaard, which Slau processed with hammer and chisel at home on the farm before they were placed in the small forest.

The motifs are mostly from well-known fairy tales and Bornholm stories of trolls, and underground creatures, but there is also a simple self-portrait.

The place, which is not very well known, has, however, been a favorite excursion destination for the locals.
Hans Schouv Andersen lived from 1930 to 2007.
