Rutsker højlyng

Rutsker Højlyng consists primarily of heather, juniper bushes, birch and conifers. The heather typically blooms in late summer and creates an impressive sight with its purple colors.

Rutsker Højlyng is one of the more unique natural areas on Bornholm and is located in the northwestern part of the island. It is a vast, open landscape characterized by heather, heathland and a certain wild nature. The area is known for its beautiful, expansive views and for being home to a rich animal and plant life. Rutsker Højlyng is one of the few places on Bornholm where you can experience a more raw and natural form of landscape, which gives a feeling of wild nature.

Like many other places on Bornholm, Rutsker Højlyng also has cultural and historical significance. In the past, the area was used for sheep grazing, which has had an influence on the appearance of the landscape. Today, the area is an important place for nature conservation, and there is active work to preserve and promote the area’s unique natural environment.

One of the 3 rocking stones is situated in Rutsker Højlyng.
