The area of rock carvings at Madsebakke in Allinge is one of the largest areas on Bornholm
Madsebakke is one of Northern Europes most important areas with rock carvings (petroglyphs) from the Bronze Age. It’s said that the carvings are up to 3000 years old.
Here you can see most of the symbols found on Bornholm’s rock carvings. For preservation reasons, the symbols are no longer outlined, and they can be difficult to see for an untrained eye. In the area, you can see: 11 ships, 3 curved lines, 5 sun crosses, 4 foot signs, and a more significant number of cup marks.
On the sketch, you can get an idea of the placement of the signs relative to each other:
Coming by car, you can park your car on the parking lot above and behind Allinge stadion, just at the very end of Stadionvej.
