Route description
The connecting trail between the Rytterknægten trail area and the Vestermarie trails starts south of Kongemindet, along Krakvejen. At the start of “Hammeren”, the trail ends, which crosses Krakvejen. Via a largely unbroken singletrack, the trail meanders westward. The trail is generally descending, so you get some excellent descents, with small ascents through the hilly western part of Almindingen, which goes by the name Vestre Indlæg. Especially the last part of the trail towards Vestermarie consists of an excellent descent.
The return trail, back towards Almindingen first consists of a fun and challenging track up, down and out of Vestermarie Plantage. Then a short ascent to the top of some of the finest downhill that the entire area has to offer. A long and easy one of a kind, with flowy turns and small rollers that can be pumped or jumped. At the bottom, the rest of the trip goes back towards Rytterknægten steadily upwards towards the top. It is a long and pleasant walk, but it does have its steep moments.
The entire connecting track is gravel in the part located in Almindingen, while the short part located in Vestermarie Plantage is in soil, just like the rest of the plantation.
