The King’s Field
Jo Dam Kærgaard shows brand new unique works that “buzz” with plant life and the roots they stuck in the ground, sand and water.
On The King’s Field’s salt meadow in Melsted and in what may have once been the king’s, ditches and roadsides, Jo Dam Kærgaard has collected what grows. In her studio, she has printed the plants and processed them with thin markers and colored pencils.
The result is a harmonious and sensual exhibition, where everything is connected and speaks to each other, occasionally with a twinkle in the eye.
The Treasure Chest
Journalist Mette Zacho inherited a “treasure chest” from her great-grandfather, the renowned Nexø doctor C.U. Boesen (1870-1953). C.U. Boesen was strongly interested in culture and an entrepreneur in relation to art and initiated, among other things, that for 8 years (1930-37), a piece of graphics was published every year by the island’s summer artists. These are the ones that Mette Zacho has taken up from the treasure chest: “The Bornholm Cities in Graphic Art”. The artists include Oluf Rude, A. Moe, Kræsten Iversen, Aage Roose and not least E. W. Johnsen.
Sunshine
It has become a tradition that Høstet’s organic “sunshine” sea buckthorn is presented during the summer season in Gudhjem Banken. This year from April to August.
